Laurelle Maharaj

Partner and CEO

Laurelle is a seasoned HR Leader with over 15 years experience in retail, professional services and manufacturing industries.  Her previous senior level human resources experience in a number of international corporations including Veolia North America, Enercare and Wal-mart, leading teams of up to 15 HR professionals, has equipped her well to identify critical points of need, develop a long-term strategy and prioritize actions.

Laurelle has also been a Professor, Business and Human Resources at a number of colleges and universities including McMaster, Trent, Sheridan and George Brown for the past seven years in addition to her corporate and consulting career.

Laurelle’s passion is helping businesses leverage their greatest asset – their people – to drive business results.  She has successfully implemented a range of human resources initiatives for small businesses, including designing programs for leadership training and development, creating rewards and recognition programs, re-working compensation structures to make them market-competitive and rolling out employee engagement programs.  She is excited about her continued journey with Virelle Consulting Inc as she hopes to be able to continue to provide an overview and recommendations for human resources to companies from both a professional and theoretical side.

Laurelle holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) with an HR Specialization from Royal Roads University and a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation from Human Resources Professional Association.

Viraj Balendran

Director of Operations

Viraj is a seasoned IT Leader with 20 years experience in the IT space as well as a considerable amount of that experience being a People Leader to teams as large as 15 people. Viraj’s greatest passion lies in leading and empowering teams to their highest level of success. Even though he is formally educated in the field of Information Technology, throughout his years as a Business Leader, Viraj has taken many courses that focus in on the management of people.

Viraj is excited to continue on the journey with Virelle Consulting as he hopes to continue to use his skills in the people space to empower leaders of our client companies to assist their employees in reaching their full potential. Tying into his passion for people development, Viraj enjoys prospecting new clients and is always willing to lend a helping hand helping leaders to continually improve their business models as it pertains to people.

Viraj holds a Diploma as a Network Administrator and a MCP designation.
